With original L-500 Bill Lawrence humbucker sound quality and high performance, the XL-500 has more output for balls to the wall shredding. Before switching to Seymour Duncan, Dimebag Darrell had used the L-500 and later switched the XL-500. The XL-500 is a fully shielded, high output blade humbucker with 4-conductor wiring for multiple for split/series/parallel/out of phase wiring combinations.
